Our approach to the curriculum is to provide the highest quality provision, utilising the skills of all our staff, to inspire all our pupils to achieve their full potential.
Mathematics is taught using the Mathematics Mastery program in Reception through to Year 6. The program is based on approaches from Singapore and from the National Curriculum. This allows all pupils not only to be fluent in the fundamentals but to reason and solve problems by applying mathematical skills with increasing sophistication.
Curriculum in Partnership with IPC
As a Federation we use The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to support us in structuring our provision for most non-core subjects and to continue to excite and engage pupils in all year groups. Topics are constantly reviewed and improved to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and to reflect the pupils we teach.
English is taught through the use of Read, Write Inc. (RWI) for Reception and KS1 children and Success for All (SFA) for KS2 children. Our pupils are grouped according to their reading attainment from Monday until Thursday, this is to ensure all children have access to lessons aimed at the next steps of their own learning. The core writing skills are taught across the curriculum with a focus on grammar, spelling, handwriting and punctuation across the school.
