We have a clear and simple vision; the children should be confident users of technology, independent digital learners, e-safe, inspired and innovative.
It’s not just the children who get involved, with members of staff making just as much progress and taking just as many risks as the children. They regularly attend their own lessons on subject specific content such as green-screen technology and augmented reality. The vision, planning and support ensure everyone makes ambitious choices and produce high quality work from innovative ideas.
The children have many opportunities to use technology throughout their school day across the whole curriculum. We use a range of technology to enhance the learning experience though technology is not a substitution for pencil or paper, it is used to help deliver rich, multi media ideas in a creative and innovative way. From basic word processing and paint programs, to mastering Keynote presenations, all the basics are covered. However, the children’s experience soon develops and children are blogging, making web pages, apps and games, movies, animations and use green screen. As they go through the school they explore augmented reality, coding languages such as Scratch, Lego Wedo and Mindstorms and finally HTML and Python in upper KS2. We believe it gives them all the experiences they need to prepare them for 21st century lifestyles.
Our whole community is involved with letters, videos and resources all available online at all times, twenty four hours a day. Our text messaging system is embedded in school life and makes communication quick and effective. Technology is in all our lives. For our children it will form the basis of their future careers. Teaching them how to use it, create with it and stay safe while using it, is crucial to developing independent and confident digital learners with skills for the future.
