Setting the values, aims and objectives for the Federation;
Agreeing the policy framework for achieving those aims and objectives;
Agreeing the school improvement strategies which includes approving the budget and agreeing the staffing structure.
CHALLENGES AND SUPPORTS THE FEDERATION BY MONITORING, REVIEWING AND EVALUATING;
The implementation and effectiveness of the policy framework;
Progress towards targets;
The implementation and effectiveness of the school improvement strategies;
The budget and the staffing structure;
ENSURES ACCOUNTABILITY BY;
Reviewing and signing off the school’s own self-evaluation report;
responding to Ofsted reports when necessary;
holding the Executive Headteacher to account for the performance of the school;
ensuring parents and pupils are involved, consulted and informed as appropriate;
making information available to the school community.
THE GOVERNING BODY ALSO;
Appoints and performance manages the Executive Headteacher who will deliver the aims (through the day to day management of the schools, implementation of the agreed policy framework and school improvement strategy and delivery of the curriculum) and report appropriately to the Governing Body.
Role of Individual Governors
The Governing Body is a corporate body. This means that Governors share collective responsibility and individual Governors can only act on behalf of the Governing Body if they are given authorisation to do so. Within the Governing Body some Governors hold specific positions of responsibility, as set out below.
The Chair of Governors is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the governing body. They set the agenda for Governing Body meetings and, if necessary, can take urgent decisions in between meetings.
The Vice Chair of Governors supports the Chair in carrying out their role and can act on the Chair’s behalf if the Chair is absent.
The Chair of the Resources Committee is responsible for the effectiveness of their committee and setting the agenda for committee meetings.
We also have a number of Link Governors, who are responsible for visiting our schools in between meetings and monitoring progress in key areas such as Safeguarding and SEN.
